Job Description:
developing and implementing the interfaces between our COTS flight computer board (Xilinx Zynq 7000 series based dual core ARM 9 Cortex computer and onboard Software Defined Radio) and the rest of the system, making sure the hardware connections work right and designing some small electronics to make sure the flight computer can talk to and control all the other hardware in the system.  The work requires being able to design microvalve driver circuits (small magnetic coil drivers), figure out serial communications hardware such as CAN bus, RS-485, Spacewire, and I2C, understanding digital and analog IO and debugging and testing using primarily oscilloscopes and laptops connected to the flight computer using a debug port. The rest of the system they will be interfacing to includes a payload (camera) electronics set, reaction wheels, star trackers, power system and propulsion and reaction control thrusters/valves.  Documenting design features, writing test procedures and flight operations procedures will also be expected.

Required Skills:
Expertise at analog and digital I/O and hands on experience with designing, implementing and testing serial communications.  Knowledge of Python, Linux and at least a little C/C++ is required.  Good interpersonal communication skills are required to stay in synch with the rest of the team.  Familiarity with or desire to learn about Attitude Control System hardware/software, cold gas thrusters, and harness design/layout/fabrication is needed.  Clear, concise writing ability.  Experience working in a small team demonstrating collaboration, leadership and hands-on execution.

Desired Skills:
CubeSat experience or previous small/micro satellite experience is highly desired.  Engineering or science degree strongly preferred. 5+ years of hands on experience strongly preferred.  Familiarity with deep space missions and radiation mitigation is desired but not required.  Familiarity with FPGA based processors and software defined radios.
