Job Description:
* Installs new software releases, system upgrades 
* Evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems 
* Performs system backups and recovery 
* Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity 
* Performs system hardening using Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) 
* Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals 
* Performs a variety of technical Systems Administration tasks 
* Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager 
* A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required * May lead or direct others 
* Work after hours and at other NOAA facilities may be required periodically 
* Performs a variety of other tasks as needed.

Required Skills:
* US Citizenship Required - No Green Cards or Visa's for this position. 
* Must Have Registered for Selective Service 
* Bachelor's Degree is required, no exceptions 
* Must have a minimum of 6 years of IT related experience 
* Must have a minimum on 3 years of Linux Systems Administration 
* Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, 6, 7; Logical Volume Manager (LVM); Linux Virtual Server (LVS); clustering; shared file system (NFS); and Security-Enhanced Linux (SELinux) 
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Project) 
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills 
* Must be highly detail-oriented 
* Adaptability, flexibility and ability to deal with ambiguity and change 
* Ability to work well independently and in a team setting 
* Goal-driven and self-motivated attributes are a must * Excellent verbal and written communications skills 
* Requires outstanding interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:
Previous experience as a Systems Administrator with NOAA, NASA, or other US Government Agencies' Satellite Ground Systems is desired
