Job Description:
The Engineering Technician II performs standardized or prescribed assignments involving a sequence of related operations, follows standard work methods on recurring assignments but receives explicit instructions on unfamiliar assignments. Technical adequacy of routine work is reviewed on completion; non-routine work may be reviewed in progress. This technician performs at this level, one or a combination of such typical duties as: a. Following specific instructions, assembles or constructs simple or standard equipment or parts, servicing or repairing simple instruments or equipment; b. Conducting a variety of tests using established methods, preparing test specimens, adjusting and operating equipment, recording test data, and pointing out deviations resulting from equipment malfunction or observational errors; c. Extracting engineering data from various prescribed but non-standardized sources, processing the data following well-defined methods including elementary algebra and geometry, and presenting the data in prescribed form. 

Required Skills:
-Must have one to two years mechanical experience, will work directly with flight techs, will handle Flight Hardware following associated procedures.
-Must be able to understand and read blueprints
-Skilled in operations of all shop tools
-Ability to follow directions of Lead Technicians and Spacecraft Engineeers 
-Possess good communication skills
-Strong computer knowledge a must
-Must have working knowledge of electronic principles
-Have a proven track record for excellent attendance and promptness
-Technicians must be able to work flexible extended hours, 2nd and 3rd shifts, and overtime and weekends to meet schedules
-Support of operations at Kennedy Space Center (KSC) may also be requested

Desired Skills:
Minimum 8 years experience as a prototype fabricator/assembler
Multi-talented person with some or all of the following skills: 
-prototype electromechanical devices assembly
-working knowledge of electronics for setting up testing of devices
-working 100-10,000 clean room
-working experience with CNC tools
-proven ability to follow government specs
-working experience with hydraulic systems (i.e. structural test frames, actuators, operations and maintenance of multi-channel load maintainers)
-Working knowledge of mechanical ground support equipment (MGSE) and proof testing procedures
-Certified A & P or Avionics license
-Be able to travel on assignments for periods up to 6 months
-Willing to be a team member following precise directions given by supervision
