Job Description:
Columbus Technologies and Services is currently seeking a Director of Business Development for the Aerospace Division to lead the company’s related growth initiatives.  This position is an integral part of the Columbus leadership team, responsible for all facets of business growth initiatives for the Aerospace Division.

As a key member of the Columbus strategic planning process, the successful candidate will lead the development of the corporate new business pipeline, opportunity identification, qualification, shaping, strategy and positioning activities leading to the successful capture of opportunities. 

The ideal candidate will have a proven record of success in building, bringing together, and leading a team of business development and capture professionals to be successful in identifying, qualifying and closing enough deals to support the strategic growth of the business. 

He/she will have proven experience in successfully developing RFP based opportunities as well as GWAC/IDIQ Task Order opportunities.  This position reports to the Aerospace Division General Manager.
•Develops new business opportunities using the established Columbus processes
•As the Division expands, develops and leads a team of Business Development and Capture Managers through all phases of the BD life cycle.  Maintains relationships with external proposal resource providers to ensure appropriate reach back as needed.
•Coordinates with operations leadership to ensure access to subject matter experts for proposal development.
•Responsible for Pipeline Development in alignment with all BD metrics.
•Responsible for strategic evaluation of potential business opportunities and provides input into the company's overall business strategy with a focus on the Aerospace markets. 
•Collaborates and coordinates BD activities internally ensuring opportunities are prioritized, managed and appropriately funded within the business area.
•Ensures that bids are adequately resourced and supported through effective management of budgeting.
•Assists the executive leadership team in setting strategic marketing programs and account plans to drive organizational growth and meet established goals.
•Develops and maintains strong business relationships with key decision makers and potential teammates in relevant market segments. Works with the operations and the BD team to leverage all relationships across the targeted market space.  Maintains oversight of Executive Call Plans.
•Identifies, cultivates, and establishes teaming agreements with key strategic partners based on analysis of market place. Develops strategic relationships for campaign pursuit, cultivating long term relationships with strategic partners.
•Critically evaluates overall operations, service delivery and win/ loss records, to include management and tracking oversight of IDIQ metrics. Implements practices to improve efficiency and win record.
•Supports capture management and proposal development staff to ensure delivery of the highest quality products. Implements best business practices to ensure team evolves and remains competitive. 
•Closely involved with all major Aerospace bids and bid strategies, to include participation in offer designs, color team reviews and Step Review presentations.
•Responsible for development of and management of the Aerospace Division New Business Budget.
•Responsible for managing department staff including hiring and termination decisions, performance evaluation, incentive programs and awards, coaching, mentoring and succession planning.
•Have responsibility for customer contact, competitive intelligence, gap analysis and bid team structuring.
•Interface with industry peers and evaluate/recommend teaming arrangements.

Required Skills:
 •Bachelor’s degree is required and Master’s degree is preferred. 
•15+ years related experience working in the federal government contracting environment supporting the Aerospace sector.  Must have demonstrable successful new business growth with NASA and the Air Force. 
•15+ years’ experience in leading a team of three or more senior business developers or equivalent growth responsibility, developing pipelines, strategic plans and new business budgets
•Must have effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry participant networks
•Must be a US citizen with ability to obtain a Government security clearance.  Experiences with the Intelligence Community desired, but not required.
