Be a technical staff member of the Flight System Systems Engineering Group and report to the Technical Group Supervisor. Be responsible for supporting the development and instantiation of requirements, interfaces and designs along with technical analyses, trade studies, resource tracking and problem identification/resolution for a flight project. Become familiar with JPL standard system engineering processes and procedures and the design of existing spacecraft through a series of activities including, but not be limited to, analysis of past spacecraft anomalies and associated lessons learned. Support flight system or mission engineering/planning trade studies and technical analysis approaches and techniques; support mechanical, electrical, payload, and communication interfaces development and specification; and support requirements development and verification through use of associated tools.
•Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Masters degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines.
•Minimum 3.0 out of 4.0 cumulative GPA.
•General understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in aerospace systems engineering which may include experience targeted in a specific subsystem discipline such as thermal, propulsion, telecom, etc.
•Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline technical team, ability to organize, prioritize and track a set of multi-functional work assignments. Ability to problem solve. Good judgment to be able to prioritize work to meet commitments with high quality products.
•Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate architectural and/or algorithmic ideas to both expert and non-expert audiences.
•Knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in analytical skills, including an ability to apply mathematical techniques to solve multi-dimensional problems.
•Familiarity with requirements development processes
•Background in simulation and analysis.
•Demonstrated initiative and ability to work in a self-starting, independent role.
