Job Description:
Do you love challenging mechanical projects. Do you have the skills to manage the design, build, and test of a mechanical subsystem for a spacecraft? If so, then we need you as a Contract Technical Manager Support Engineer for a spacecraft that we are building to send the Europa, an icy moon of Jupiter that may harbor life.
As a Contract Technical Manager Support Engineer you will help to define the scope of work and guide the development of major space flight hardware subassemblies at a subcontractor organization. You will help as a point of contact for all technical issues and will help enable the successful delivery of the hardware for flight.

Some Challenges You Will Tackle: 
•Will supporting a Contract Technical Manager (CTM) to ensure successful deliverables to various projects 
•Work closely with management and engineering to make trades given fluctuations in constraints and resources 
•Define mechanical requirements for spacecraft mechanisms and structure 
•Define interfaces between the hardware developed at the subcontractor and the spacecraft 
•Help maintaining the cost, technical, schedule and documentation compliance of JPL contracts. 
•Will process and monitor contract orders, monitor the technical progress and programmatic milestones and review and approve of subcontractor invoices. 
•Will frequently interact with JPL Acquisition and cognizant engineers in the Request for Proposals, Request for Quotes & Selection Debriefs of JPL contracts (including technical evaluations) 
•Engage appropriate JPL subject matter experts to solve technical issues that arise at the subcontractor.

Required Skills:
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Master’s degree in similar discipline with a minimum of 1 years of related experience; or PhD in similar discipline. 
•Enthusiasm and a love for mechanical engineering 
•A desire to work as part of a large team on extremely complex problems 
•Experience in system engineering, program management and/or integration & testing of spacecraft. 
•Demonstrated ability to plan work including integrating cost and schedules. 
•Demonstrated ability to execute work in an earned value management system. 
•Solid understanding of translating requirements into mechanical hardware. 
•Extensive experience in the design and development of spacecraft mechanical systems and mechanical ground support equipment 
•Good negotiating skills and ability to work with contractors. Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation).
