Job Description:
Will be a member of the Flight Engineering Group (397K) as a Mars Science Laboratory (MSL) Engineering Operations Team, training to be a rover planner (RP) and a member of the Systems team. After training for RP is complete, they will move on to RP shifts as part of the tactical day and additional Systems shift work in the Tactical Downlink Lead (TDL) and systems roles. Due to the amount of training and knowledge transfer, support for multiple years (3+) is preferable. Work with the RP team to design strategies for maneuvering the rover well into the extended mission. Saving wheel wear life while following the science requirements of the mission. Also, interact with international partners in order to accomplish the science goals. Document processes and procedures for adaptation by future missions of similar types. Defines, coordinates, balances and integrates technical issues in an end-to-end manner to ensure that the total system satisfies the customer's requirements, expectations, and constraints within the allocated resources and with acceptable risk. Develops and maintains system architectures, requirements, and interfaces; manages technical resources; analyzes and models the design; verifies and validates the system; contributes to risk management and controls the system change process.
