Job Description:
Will be a member of the Defense & Commercial Programs Systems Engineering Group (312H) in the Project Systems Engineering & Formulation Section (312). Will report administratively to the Technical Group Supervisor and report programmatically to the Manger of 7620 (Modeling). Will be a mission planning systems engineer, responsible for the end-to-end development of a critical mission thread through definition of performance capabilities, development of operations concepts, and development/flowdown of requirements through multiple levels and across multiple system elements/organizations enabling critical mission applications. Will be responsible for executing end-to-end system performance analyses and developing program-level products on a technology demonstration task. Will be responsible for the development of project system engineering products and participation in program-level engineering trades. Tasks will be focused on performing project systems engineering functions, interface definitions, systems engineering analyses and assessments, architecture, risk management and mitigation, as well as other technical disciplines. Will partner with mission design engineers to develop and apply mission design policies, practices, requirements, V&V plans, and schedules. Will lead trade studies to examine the impact of system parameters on mission operations concepts, contributing to the establishment, understanding, and
refinement of the design reference mission. Will conduct project-level cross-cutting analyses. Work will be done across a spectrum of disciplines on asks with government and non-government agencies. Will interface with the program customer and represent JPL to partner agencies.

Required Skills:
•Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret (TS) clearance based upon Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) within a 5 year scope and must be approved for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) accesses.
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
•Bachelors degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 9 years of related experience; Masters degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 7 years of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 5 years related experience.
•Has wide-ranging experience and advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: systems engineering, aerospace engineering, project systems engineering, and mission planning.
•Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts, and techniques used in project systems engineering.
•Extensive knowledge of industry and/or academic practices and standards across a range of applications related to the systems engineering discipline, space mission operations, and non-NASA missions.
•Significant understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in project systems engineering and concepts in systems engineering in space missions, resulting in contributions to the development of new theories and methods.
•Proven ability to lead the activities of, and to synthesize the unique discipline knowledge of, a broad range of technical subject matter experts.
•Demonstrated experience in requirements development, system formulation and verification, and interface design for a project implementation.
•Must be a self-motivated individual who can work independently and in a team environment.
•Requires occasional domestic travel.
•Requires excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
