18 month contract position

Customer and contract specific training will be required and provided.
>75% Travel Required, Includes use of Personal Vehicle
•Preferred but not required - High School diploma with a minimum of 12 years of related experience
•Seeking individuals that have experience working with suppliers and/or performing inspections at suppliers
•Proficient in mechanical hardware and/or electronic hardware inspection practices and advanced knowledge in two or more of the following areas:
-Inspection techniques (non-destructive, electronics, mechanical)
-Processing & operations
-Applicable policies, procedures, and practices in quality discipline
-Documentation of hardware quality
-Use/Reading of blueprints and specifications
-Writing inspection reports and non-conformances.
**Role will be primarily as a Source Inspector, which will require >75% travel. Majority of travel will be local to the Southern California area, but travel out of state will be required.**

•Driving (a government issued vehicle) is required for this position. Must have a valid California driver’s license, a clean driving record and successfully pass a DMV check.
•Candidate must be proficient in multiple inspection disciplines in both mechanical and/or electronic hardware as well as the tools needed to get inspections done including, but not limited too, optical comparator, hand tools, surface plate, XRF etc.
•Candidate must have demonstrated a strong ability to interact with suppliers, peers and/or functional partners within the organization, as well as customers external to JPL and may assist less experienced personnel with work assignments through technical leadership and coaching.
•Application of required policies, procedures and practices to resolve a variety of complex procedures will be required, with general supervision for routine work and detailed instructions for new assignments.
•Previous experience with source inspection and creation of inspection reports.
•Ability to accurately read drawings and specifications.
•Ability to follow detailed inspection plans (work instructions).
•Work independently once fully trained.
•Ability to make tough calls under pressure, multitask and deal with frequent interruptions.
