Job Description:
The Systems Administrator will design, build and maintain mission operation control centers and data centers supporting NASA Earth orbiting satellites. These data centers are part of Goddard Space Flight Center’s Ground Systems and Mission Operations (GSMO-2) contract. The primary role of this position is to provide computer system administration support to many of the earth orbiting science missions. This includes designing, installing and configuring computer systems, storage arrays, communications networks and performing system integration, testing and operational support. Supports real time/scientific operations area where system availability is mission critical. Performs duties such as sustaining system operations, configuration management, system backups, assist in application software troubleshooting, installing and configuration COTS products, and troubleshooting system, network, and connectivity issues. Maintains system compliance with NASA IT Security policies and procedures.


Required Skills:
•US citizenship
•Ability to obtain National Agency Check Inquiry (NACI) background check
•Ability to complete mandatory NASA System Administration and IT Security training for supported platforms, and obtain NASA System Administrator certification required
•This is primarily a Linux SA position; however Windows experience is relevant and applicable to enterprise to be maintained
•7 or more years of directly related experience in computer systems, data centers, system engineering and administration
•Proven experience building, configuring and maintaining Linux operating systems
•Proven experience in network configuration including authorization (LDAP, AD, PAM) on Windows and Linux platforms as well as multi-factor authentication.
•Working knowledge of computer hardware (workstations, thin clients, servers, RAID arrays, SAN/NAS)
•Experience with script programming
•Experience in Red Hat Linux and Windows operating systems
•Experienced in Windows and Linux systems patching via WSUS and Red Hat Satellite Server
•Experienced in system cloning and backups
•In-depth working knowledge of Red Hat Linux operating system
•Working knowledge of configuring and building other Unix systems
•Experience in troubleshooting MOC component issues
•Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating system
•Working knowledge of computer hardware installation and repair
•Working knowledge of system network configuration, including network authorization (LDAP, Active Directory, PAM) on Windows and Linux systems

Desired Skills:
•Linux/Red Hat experts who can build large Linux clusters from bare metal
•Experience programming Juniper and Cisco switches, routers an firewalls in high bandwidth networks
•Dell Equallogic storage arrays using iSCSI networking
•Solid Vmware experience in highly virtualized environments and P2V migrations
•NASA System Administration certification
•Strong verbal and written skills and the ability to write technical procedures.
