Job Description:
As a spacecraft mechanisms test engineer you will be partnering with senior engineers to validate the hardware designs of spacecraft mechanisms. This job requires creativity as well as attention to detail in order to develop and execute tests that can prove the robustness of a mechanism and expose its weaknesses so that they can be fixed. You will interface with a multi-disciplinary team including engineers, designers, analysts, machinists, and project staff so good teamwork is critical to success in this role.

Responsibilities include:
• Develop tests that can show that a mechanism meets engineering requirements
• Design and develop hardware infrastructure required for testing
• Document test procedures
• Execute tests and collect data
• Analyze test data to show compliance with requirements

Required Skills:
•Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
•Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Master’s degree in similar discipline with a minimum of 1 years of related experience; or PhD in similar discipline.
•Broad knowledge in one or more of the following related fields: mechanical design, electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or physics.
•Extensive understanding of mechanical systems including structures, configuration, mechanisms, structural analysis, and integration and test.
•Ability to solve mechanical design problems, perform trade studies, develop design requirements, perform piece part design, and oversee the coordination of fabrication, assembly, and qualification of hardware.
•Some knowledge and experience in integration and test methodologies in an electro-mechanical environment.
•Able to prioritize work to meet commitments with high quality products.

Desired Skills:
•Working knowledge of CAD tools (i.e. Solidworks, NX)
•Working knowledge of data collection hardware and software (i.e. Labview)
•Working knowledge of data analysis tools (i.e. Matlab, Python)
•Experience with spaceflight hardware development and test
