Job Description:
The Vice President of Aerospace (VPA) leads the company’s business for several agencies with Aerospace focus such as NASA and NOAA.  The successful candidate helps shape the strategic direction of the Aerospace Business Unit at Columbus. He/she helps develop, show-case, and market Columbus’ capabilities in Aerospace.  He/she has operational leadership responsibility of the company’s existing aerospace business at NASA, NOAA and other agencies, and is responsible for the organic and new business growth of the Aerospace Division.   The VPA has a proven record of success in building, evolving and leading a science and engineering organization.

Operational Responsibilities
The VPA’s operational responsibilities include profit and loss, performance management, staff management, and customer interface.  
Organic Growth
The VPA is responsible for organically growing current contracts through relationships, leveraging capabilities, and understanding and addressing customer needs.
New Business Growth
The new business growth includes identification; capture; and proposal development and management activities. The VPA is responsible for developing and maintaining a robust pipeline of opportunities, and for ensuring that winning proposals are generated with reasonable pricing. 
Business and Pipeline Development
The VPA identifies and qualifies new opportunities that fit the Company’s capabilities and strategic goals. The VP presents Gate 1 reviews for the identified opportunities.
Capture Management
The VPA performs capture activities or selects a Capture Manager to perform capture activities, including customer interactions and positioning for new opportunities that have cleared Gate 1 reviews.  The VPA is responsible for following and enforcing all Company capture processes, working with Director of Capture Management and Executives to ensure strategic direction of the capture, and making sure that all Gate Reviews are successfully conducted. The VPA is also responsible for budgeting and controlling the costs of opportunity and proposal development.
Proposal Management
The VPA performs proposal activities as needed and works with the Director of Capture Management to select a Proposal Manager and Proposal Team to develop and submit a winning proposal.  The VPA leads and contributes to all proposal pricing activities with the pricing team.

Required Skills:
•Must be a US citizen
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
•Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related fields is required, Master’s degree is preferred. MBA is a plus.
•15+ years related experience working in the federal government contracting environment.  Must have a demonstrable success record in new business growth within the Civil Agency and DoD customer environments.
•He/she has successfully led operations of at least 100 staff engaged in analysis, development, testing, and operations of scientific, engineering, and IT support.
•He/she has a proven record of successful customer satisfaction and support.
•He/she has successful record of organically growing organizations
•He/she has proven experience in successfully developing and winning RFP-based opportunities as well as GWAC/IDIQ Task Order opportunities
•Must have effective oral and written communication skills coupled with the ability to establish and maintain productive customer and industry networks
