Job Description:
This is a Linux SA position. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. Works under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. May lead or direct others. BS/BA degree in a related area (or equivalent), and 4 to 6 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

Required Skills:
•BS/BA degree in a related area
•US Citizenship Required - No Green Cards or Visa's for this position.
•Must have a minimum of 4 - 6 years of IT related experience
•Must have experience in an enterprise environment building and maintaining domain controllers, configuring Active directory servers and configuring WSUS
•Must have a minimum of 3 - 6 years' experience as a System Administrator managing Windows 2008, 2012 and 2016 Enterprise systems.
•Experience performing senior level system administration tasks in an enterprise environment
•Experience writing powershell or Bash shell scripts
•Ability to build and configure a Windows system environment from scratch
•Experience with Unix or Redhat desired
•Basic knowledge of Linux command structure
•Understanding of SSH and its setup
•Understanding how to monitor memory, disk space, and performance is essential
•Strong communication skills and ability to work well with others is essential
•Will be required to monitor and report status of activities to contractor and government staff; must be prepared to respond to ad hoc assignments while managing often conflicting schedule priorities.
•Knowledge of user accounts, groups and the functionality of LDAP
•Occasional travel to other NOAA facilities in Riverdale, MD, Fairmont, WV, or Wallops Island VA may be required.

Desired Skills:
•Experience working on satellite ground systems is preferred (but not a requirement)
•Experience administering an advanced storage solution such as CommonVault or Nexenta
•Knowledge of Centrify, Tripwire, Solarwinds, Bigfix and Altiris
•Understanding of Postfix configuration
•Understanding of Samba - preferre
•Understanding of the Linux init process
•Past experience leading small teams, coordinating activities, managing priorities, and adjusting work plans for team is desired, but not a requirement.
