Job Description:
JPL’s Configuration Management Engineer (CME) is responsible for tailoring and implementation of the institutional Configuration Management (CM)
process requirements on assigned JPL Projects and Independent Division Tasks. As a member of the Small Projects and Operations Information
Management and Configuration Management Group, the CME will:
• Be responsible for configuration management planning, administer change control processes, status accounting, audits and evaluations, product
release and delivery, and software deployment.
• Establishing and maintaining the program’s/project’s CM systems, including documentation and software libraries.
• Developing scripts to support software build cycles, auditing, deployment and reporting.
• Providing CM to development teams and Program/Project Management.
• Developing, improving and training on CM processes.
• Developing CM solutions to a variety of technical problems and ensuring solutions are consistent with organization objectives and best practices
• Implementing the CM plan
• Interpreting, executing and making recommendations to organizational policies and best practices.
• Establishing and maintaining a strong interface with program/project management to guarantee successful completion of CM tasks.
• Be accountable to the program/project management, as well as CM management, for the success of the CM plans and processes.


Required Skills:
•Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder w/ active TS/SCI 
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Successful candidates typically have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Systems Engineering,
Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Computer Systems Engineering, Physics, or Math.
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience with Software CM Administration.
• Experience establishing, developing and implementing CM identification, CM processes, training, configuration control, implementing/maintaining
software library, product release and delivery, deployments, and configuration audits.
• Defining, analyzing or reporting Configuration Management Metrics.
• Great attention to detail with respect to managing software, development environments, documentation, software tools and program libraries.
• Excellent presentation and leadership skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication.
• Ability to develop and maintain software CM tools (ie. Puppet, CLI tools (scripts), web based tools).
• A working knowledge of CMMI and AS 9100 requirements.
• Ability to effectively interface and communicate with multiple levels of management and other engineering teams.
• An intimate, working knowledge of Systems Engineering and its processes.

Desired Skills:
• The ability to perform build management (compiling, linking), release management (capturing and installing software baselines), and configuration
audits.
• CM certification.
• Experience with Continuous integration/Continuous Delivery processes and development.
• Git
• Experience using CHEF or Puppet; Atlassian Tools (JIRA); Jenkins or Hudson.
• Using such languages as: Python, Perl, shell scripting, C++, JAVA, web development (Javascript, PHP, REST, SQL).
• DevOPS design, procedures and processes.
• Artifact repositories (Artifactory, YUM, GITHub).
• Databases: MySQL, No-SQL.
