Job Description:
We seek a self-motivated individual who can work well both independently and in a team environment to serve as a Altium Librarian within the Engineering Tools and Data Management Group. Reporting functionally to the Engineering Tools and Data Management Group Supervisor and programmatically to the Parts Librarian Lead for the Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) Project, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving the Altium parts library. As TTAPS Level III, Altium Librarian, you will be working closely with JPL's Electronic Manufacturing, Packaging, & Technical Services Section, Electronic Packaging Group.
The Altium Librarian provides the following engineering services:
-Lead effort to improve and standardize Altium Parts/Components Libraries across JPL
-Support management in selecting gold source commercial parts footprints to be used by all Printed Circuit Board designer
-Create new components library data within Altium including schematic component symbols and footprints for commercial and Mil spec parts.
-Create special footprints, including those with irregular pad shapes.
-Create 3D body models of components.
-Review new and existing component footprints against JPL standard guidelines.
-Demonstrate flexibility in handling work assignments.
-Interface with engineers, designers, electrical parts librarians, and project staff.
-Work independently and under the direction of the group supervisor, project management, technical leads as required.


Required Skills:
•Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
•High School Diploma with at least 10 years of relevant experience.
•Advanced knowledge in Altium tools and Altium libraries creation.
•Advanced knowledge in Printed Circuit Design, Footprint designs, schematic component symbols.
•Working knowledge in Siemens NX or SolidWorks
•Experience in Printed Wiring Board layout design tools, especially Altium and Mentor Graphics.
•Extensive understanding and wide application of principles, theories, concepts and techniques in PCB Footprint design, ability to solve packaging engineering mechanical design problems.
•Advanced knowledge of applicable industry and/or academic practices and standards in mechanical systems including structures, configuration, electronic packaging, structural analysis and integration and test.
•Advanced knowledge in one or more related fields of the following areas: design of printed wiring boards footprint and component types and classifications.
•Extensive experience interfacing with various suppliers and components manufacturers.
•Advanced understanding and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques in soldering operations and surface mount technology electronics manufacturing.
•Advanced written, verbal communication, and organizational skills.
•Must be able to work in a team environment and meet deadlines.

Desired Skills:
•Broad knowledge of applicable Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations.
•Broad knowledge in electronic board design and fabrication industry
•Experience with spacecraft flight hardware development and test.
•Experience with Cable design, assembly, and test.
•Desire a candidate who is assertive, self-motivated, and can work with minimal direction.
•Working knowledge of the JPL drawing release process and inspection reports.
•Experience with Altium Database Libraries using Microsoft Access.
