Job Description:
This unique opportunity is part of JPL's Mechanical Systems Engineering, Fabrication and Test Division that engages in research, technology development, and the creation of advanced mechanical, thermal, propulsion, and electronic packaging systems with expertise that spans the full breath of mechanical disciplines and is applied from architectural concept development through operations. As a Mechanical Engineer IV, you will be working for the Payload and Small Spacecraft Mechanical Engineering Section (355), which is responsible for the structures, mechanisms, and mechanical systems engineering of payloads and small spacecraft across all phases of the mission lifecycle.
You will be responsible for:
•Searches and consolidates engineering data for mechanical components or products.
•Partners with other engineers to generate engineering requirements and specification documentation for mechanical systems.
•Partners with other engineers in the analysis, and oversees assembly and test of mechanical assemblies.
•Partners with other engineers in the operations of mechanical systems.
•Contributes to technology development.
•Attends project reviews as necessary to answer questions regarding own analysis
•Participates on concept development teams by introducing and infusing new approaches and tools acquired from recent academic experience.
•Explores concept development modeling tools.
