Job Description:
You will report administratively to the Technical Group Supervisor and programmatically to the Project Systems Engineer and be responsible for the development of project system engineering products and documents, the definition and execution of the systems engineering practices that are used at multiple levels of integration, project-scope trade studies, and end-to-end integrated analyses.
You must be a self–motivated individual who can work independently and in a team environment and be able to initiate and lead tasks across a spectrum of disciplines with government and non-government organizations.
Tasks include:
•Lead the development of extensive System-level verification and validation (V&V) procedures as well as reviewing Ground V&V procedures
•Coordinate across multiple internal and external (government and non-government) partnerships on procedure development & execution
•Provide System-level assessment of test results and coordinate the discipline-level test reviews and reports
•Support the planning, testing, and delivery of a design and assuring that it meets functional and performance requirements and complies with institutional standards
•Establish and maintain constructive relationships with government sponsors
•Provide leadership carrying out the system engineering process from requirements through implementation
•Execute systems engineering analyses and assessments
•Interact with other teams to develop and apply systems engineering policies, practices, requirements, plans, and schedules


Required Skills:
•Must be a US Citizen with an active Top Secret (TS) clearance based upon Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) within a 5 year scope and must be approved for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) accesses.
•Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
•Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 15 years of related experience; Master’s degree in similar disciplines with a minimum of 13 years of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines with a minimum of 11 years related experience.
•Wide-ranging and advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: systems engineering, aerospace engineering, and project systems engineering
•Extensive understanding and application of principles, theories, concepts, and techniques used in system engineering
•Experience with System-level testing with an emphasis on Ground systems
•Significant understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in project systems engineering and concepts in systems engineering in space missions, resulting in contributions to the development of new theories and methods.
•Ability to lead the activities of, and to synthesize the unique discipline knowledge of, a broad range of technical subject matter experts
•Advanced knowledge of industry and/or academic practices and standards across a range of applications related to the systems engineering discipline, space mission operations, and non-NASA missions
•Excellent problem solving skills
•Ability to deal with multiple issues, tasks, and priorities concurrently
•Experience with requirements development, system formulation and verification, and interface design for a project implementation
•Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills

Desired Skills :
•Thorough understanding of systems engineering methods and applications
•Recent technical task management and systems engineering experience
•Experience working with non-NASA government agencies on System-level testing
•Experience in all phases of the design, development, system integration, test and operation of spacecraft and/or scientific payloads
•Experience with system and/or subsystem V&V
•Demonstrated skills in leading a multidisciplinary, multi-organizational team
•Ability to work on major project assignments without appreciable direction with accountability for technical performance
•Significant understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in project systems engineering and concepts in systems engineering in space missions, resulting in contributions to the development of new theories and methods
•Ability to deal with multiple issues, tasks, and priorities concurrently
•Experience leading tasks and coordinating working groups on projects in system development, test, and/or operations
•Ability to interact effectively across multiple disciplines with government and non-government agencies
•Experience with development and delivery of system documentation, such as requirements documents, test plans, and design description documents
