Job Description:
As a member of the flight software internal test (FIT) team for the NISAR mission, you will be responsible for testing flight software components that control the NISAR spacecraft. Use your creativity and cleverness to understand the NISAR flight system, write test scenarios, and expose flight software bugs. This position reports to the flight software (FSW) Cognizant Engineer (Cog. E), and works closely with other FSW developers and systems engineers.
Specific Responsibilities
• Write Python test scripts to test flight software against hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and software simulations
• Work with:
o the FSW Cog. E to ensure requirements are testable
o developers to understand their designs and interfaces
o other FIT team members to develop appropriate strategies to test modules in an integrated environment
• Present your test scripts in a peer review setting, and review the tests of others
• Identify technical issues within the integrated FSW

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with typically a minimum of 3 years of related experience; Master’s degree in
similar disciplines with typically a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or PhD in similar disciplines
• Extensive experience testing a large software project
• Significant experience with Python
• Significant experience with C
• Experience with Linux

Desired Skills :
• Broad knowledge and experience in testing embedded real-time flight software systems, avionics subsystems, and integrated flight hardware
• Experience using VxWorks
• Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories and concepts regularly used in flight software test for spacecraft
avionics subsystems
• Expertise in avionics subsystem flight and ground testbeds, support equipment, integration and validation
• In-depth systems engineering experience and knowledge in avionics hardware, compute elements, I/O interfaces (1553, RS-485), communication
standards (CCSDS), or fault detection, isolation, and recovery concepts
