Roles and responsibilities

Hours per week: 0 to 40

W2 position 
This is an intermittent, "scheduled-as-needed" position due to the nature of Sec. 1820 media production and audiovisual technical support. For example, the person may be scheduled for zero hours in a week, or 4 hours, 5 hours, 15 hours, or 42 hours. Overtime may be authorized by the manager or the manager’s alternate on an “as needed” basis, as long as the company is given advance notice, or in the case of unexpected overtime, “day of” notice. Work is usually scheduled for the first shift, but may occasionally be scheduled for the second or third shift. Work is usually scheduled on weekdays, but may occasionally be scheduled for Saturday or Sunday. The person may have a gap of multiple weeks with no work scheduled at JPL. Thus, the person may be employed by other companies if the employment does not violate Conflict of Interest guidelines.
Customer and contract specific training will be required and provided.

Job Description:
• Looking for audio technician, who has live sound event experience to assist us with various events.
• Will provide real-time audiovisual and IT-based assistance for live events, conferences, TV broadcasts and streaming.
• Will assist engineers in organizing, installing, coordinating and testing audio, video, multimedia, and computer-based equipment for productions, conferences, meetings, video recordings, etc.
• Will use creative approaches in resolving unusual situations, yet work within a team.
• Will set-up, test, and operate specialized audio and video equipment to support video productions, meetings and events.
• Will communicate and interact with clients to plan and fulfill audiovisual needs. Will provide technical assistance to clients to assure display of presentations or media during events.
• Will monitor and maintain quality control standards for equipment in auditoriums, conference rooms, multimedia rooms, and other locations.
• Will assist technical staff in planning and documenting audio, video, multimedia, and theatrical systems, including creating some drawings and diagrams.
• May perform minor repairs, adjustments, and troubleshooting.
• May assist in digital file, tape and film archival organization and documentation.
• Will perform other duties as assigned to support JPL Television Operations.

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• An advanced understanding of the general and practical aspects of both Analog and Digital mixing domains in order to provide support for live  events, conferences, television broadcasting and Internet streaming.
• Professional experience with technical support for live events or television programs.
• Knowledge of proper Gain Structuring
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
• Demonstrated "hands-on" experience with connecting video, audio and computer systems.
• Experience in maintaining and repairing audio equipment.
• Proficient with both Macs and PC.
• Proficient with providing audio during live sound events.
• Knowledge of media file formats.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office products
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to adhere to JPL policies and procedures.
• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of live, as well as broadcast mixing.
