Job Description:
Surface pressure is the main driver behind atmospheric dynamics and is important for studying weather forecasting, prediction of strength and path of storms, dry tropospheric delays, which affect radar range measurements for mission like NISAR and SWOT, as well as GPS accuracy. Despite its importance, remote sensing measurements of pressure are currently of limited availability and quality. The objective of this work is to develop compact, MMIC based multi-chip modules working at V-band (65-70 GHz) necessary to demonstrate a differential absorption radar to measure surface pressure. We are building the radar testbed for the differential absorption radar. The selected candidate:
• Will work with high frequency microwave components and waveguides.
• Will characterize individual blocks (Up converter, HPA, Switch, receiver etc)
• Will document test setups and analyzed data.
• Will take solid models from box CogEs and figure out how to integrate all components.
• Will design interconnecting waveguides and coaxial cables.
• Will integrate the RF front end by connecting individual modules together.
• Will integrate the RF front end with a digital system for a table top demo.
• Will work towards a field demo.

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical disciplines with typically a minimum of 1 year of related experience; or Master degree in similar disciplines.
• A minimum GPA of 3.0
• Experience with RF test equipment like spectrum analyzer, VNA and power meter.
• Familiarity with CAD tools such as Solidworks.
• Familiarity with digital components of radar such as AWG, DAQ
• Computer programming in MATLAB, python or any other programming language for data analysis
• Experience in working from schematics, rough sketches, diagrams, layouts or plans often requiring interpretation.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Desired Skills :
• Experience with high frequency circuits and waveguides.
• Good written, verbal and presentation skills.
• Demonstrated skill in some computer language.
• Coursework in RF and microwave engineering.
• Simulation tools such as ADS and EM tools such as HFSS.
