Job Description:
The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and maintaining the Columbus Technologies and Services’ Employee Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and goals; monitoring and enforcing compliance with all applicable federal and state laws/regulation including compliance with customer site specific safety programs, policies and procedures; communicating and providing all required Health & Safety training to employees.
Duties include:
• Designs and directs safety training programs to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses and exposure to long-term health hazards.
• Develops worker plans and policies for new employee safety orientation including skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazard, respiratory, fall protection and other safety procedures, and the use of protective equipment.
• Performs EH&S audits and evaluations of company/customer sites and employees on a scheduled and random basis
• Manages company site specific safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety-related regulations
• Recommends corrective actions of safety hazards and makes follow-up inspection to ensure compliance.
• Studies, identifies, and reports causes of past accidents and develops recommendations and follow-up to prevent accident recurrences.
• Effectively communicates Health and Safety expectations to operations and corporate management and personnel at all levels.
• Trains and manages work such as, welding, logout/tagout, confined space, fall protection, etc, as well as high hazard work plans for various site facilities.
• Interprets and applies California Code of Regulations (CCR) and record keeping requirements
• Manages company safety committee, weekly staff trainings, emergency response team.
• Manages hazardous material management and chemical tracking and inventory programs.
• Assists in developing an effective Safety Incentive Program

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen and Permanent Resident
• Education/Certification: BS Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineer/Health, or Occupational Safety
and Health required; OSHA 30 hour Training and Certifications, 40-hour HAZWOPER and environmental auditor
• 5 – 10 years experience in Environmental Health and Safety and safety related issues and related policies and procedures.
• Experience with auditing, investigations, or other comparable analytical assignments. Ability to concisely and accurately summarize processes, findings and recommendations, verbally and in writing.
• Skilled in building relationships and working well with others within reporting line and outside of organization.
