Job Description:
One year contracting position as a Data Specialist on the Technical Learning & Development team, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing data across JPL’s Learning Management Systems. You will work closely with our HR systems including SumTotal, Degreed, Blackboard, Lynda.com, Workday, Oracle, and Visier to cleanse and organize our learning data, mine data, perform insights and analysis, develop reports, as well as support the configuration of learning systems to ensure they are effective in meeting JPL’s learning needs. You will also work closely with the Technical Learning & Development team to develop a data governance model for the learning and development organization. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a fine eye for detail, exceptional analytical skills, strong collaboration and communication skills, and has a passion for problem solving and analytical reasoning.

Responsibilities
• Cleanse data across multiple sources in the learning ecosystem
• Bring together complex datasets from across multiple platforms to build a comprehensive view of learning across the organization
• Analyze data sets to identify and interpret trends/patterns and uncover actionable insights for our L&D team and internal customers
• Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators
• Design, build and automate visual dashboards and reports for distribution across the organization using data analytics tools
• Support various reporting requests from the organization
• Perform data studies and data discovery around new data sources or new uses for existing data sources
• Perform system administrator functions for the LMS reporting tool including workflow setup, configuration, data loads, and integrations
• Identify, communicate and resolve data quality issues or variances.
• Develop and deploy a data governance model and taxonomy for the organizations’ learning ecosystem
• Partner with and train administrators on using the new governance model, and reports and dashboards.

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• BS in Data Science, Mathematics, or related discipline with at least 3 years experience in data analytics and visualization.
• Proven working experience as a data analyst, business data analyst, or in a related field
• Technical expertise regarding data cleansing, data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
• Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, Javascript, or ETL frameworks)
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS, SAS etc)
• Proven experience with using data analytics tools such as Visier, Tableau, BI or similar.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and distribute significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills
• Demonstrated experience in handling large data sets in a variety of different systems
