Job Description:
The Columbus Team is looking for a senior level Systems Engineer to support the SETS Contract with NOAA. This role directly supports the NOAA NESDIS OSGS director of systems engineering. This role is to be the first person to interact with organizations and missions for integrating into the enterprise. The goal is to help the organizations understand how they fit into the enterprise, and help integrate the mission into the enterprise through the systems engineering process (CONOP, Requirements, Risk, and architecture).

This System Engineer will be supporting extremely complex programs and will be working with other contractors as well as US Government representatives and decision makers. The majority of work assignments are self-directed; therefore, the selectee must have a successful track record for working independently, managing time, managing multiple (sometimes conflicting) priorities, and personally accountable for completion of duties and assignments.

• A successful candidate must have:
• Strong systems engineering experience in all the disciplines
• NASA and-or NOAA satellite Ground systems experience
• Be able to review CONOPS, L1 & L2 Requirements, architecture diagrams
• Work in multi-organization IPTs
• Actively represent and pursue the best interests of an assigned project, leveraging experience and expertise to ensure mission goals and objectives (stated and implied) are foremost in analysis and subsequent recommendations for actions/plans.
• Work with government and contractor personnel to propose, influence, and design plans for cloud utilization, as appropriate.
• Proactive Risk Management identification, analysis, assessment, control, as well as development of mitigation strategies (avoidance, minimization, or elimination of identified or unacceptable risks).
• Active participant in meetings, working groups, teams
• Compilation of reports, presentations, white papers, recommendations, and position statements
• Excellent written and oral presentation skills
• While not required to supervise the activities of others, the selectee is required to have leadership skills to champion
mission/project goals and objectives.

Desired: 
Past experience with NOAA (especially NESDIS) or NASA systems, missions, projects, and protocols is preferred; however, applicable experience with other government agencies will be considered.
