Job Description:
The candidate will participate in ground system and operations development lifecycle activities, including requirements management, verification and validation, and training activities. Tasks include ground software system engineering; ground process engineering; and development of ground operations use cases and trade studies. The candidate will be a member of the Ground Data System Engineering Group, and will be technically accountable to both program and line organization, reporting programmatically to the project Mission System Manager and administratively to the Ground Data System Engineering group supervisor. 

Required Skills:
• The candidate must be a citizen of the United States of America
• Candidate must have a minimum of a Top Secret/SCI clearance
• A United States Government administered polygraph examination will be given to the selected candidate; he/she must pass it to maintain employment in this position
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• AN ACTIVE TS/SCI SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION.
• Bachelors degree in engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 12 years of related experience; Masters degree in engineering or related technical discipline with a minimum of 10 years of related experience; PhD with a minimum of 8 years of related experience.
• Wide-ranging experience and advanced knowledge in flight project systems engineering lifecycle activities and products including ground data system architecture; trade studies; system-level, subsystem-level and interface requirements definition, flow-down and verification; and risk management.
• In-depth knowledge of software architecture practices.
• Proven record in the application of software development standards including configuration management.
• Ability to work effectively with flight project’s systems engineering leadership.
• Proven ability to effectively interface frequently with key mission stakeholders and customers including scientists, project management, and industry partners, including advising senior management.
• Demonstrated excellent problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated solid technical leadership and teaming skills.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate and collaborate across organizations.

Desired Skills:
• Has knowledge of government policies, procedures, and regulations across a range of applications.
• Extensive flight operations experience.
• Expertise in commercial and government best practices applied to the design and deployment of ground systems.
• Knowledge of standard architecture documentation approaches.
• Ability to evaluate evolving technologies.
