Job Description:
- Candidate will function as a research Data Engineer for the OWLS/HELM project by:
- Attend weekly HELM meetings
- Track and rendezvous with Caltech data-taking personnel
- Assist in culture growth and standardized data acquisition sufficient for HELM training data
- Perform initial quality control and adjust data acquisition procedure to ensure suitability for HELM training
- Own the logging of data acquisition logging details in formalized manner (GitHub)
- Transport data to JPL research environment in timely manner
- Run the standard HELM processing pipeline for data curation / evaluation
- Run release versions of HELM algorithms to generate research-grade results
- Own and improve visualization products supporting HELM system evaluation
- Prepare summary slides on data quality and current HELM results
- Oversee data labeling efforts, mentorship of interns, and purification of resulting label products
- Participate as able in the research and development of the HELM product as able

Required Skills:
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
- Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
- Python / Linux proficiency
- Matplotlib / visualization ability
- MS/PhD in CS, Engineering, Mathematics, or Physical Science
- Some experience with Machine Learning
- Science research experience
