Job Description:
The Advanced Weather Interactive Processing System (AWIPS) is central to the ability of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) National Weather Service (NWS) to predict weather, water, and climate conditions. AWIPS provides NWS with the means to integrate meteorological and hydrological data into a single computer workstation. It draws data from an array of weather sensors, satellites, and numerical forecast guidance, processes and distributes the data to the 122 Weather Forecast Offices, 13 River Forecast Centers, and more than 20 environmental centers nationwide, and dispenses rapid, highly reliable warnings and forecasts of weather events that affect the United States, its territories, or adjacent waters. Columbus is searching for a mid-level Software Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist the program's System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) group performing Operations & Maintenance for the National Weather Service.

The Software QA Specialist interfaces with the whole SDLC team and ensures the quality of the release delivered to the customer. This may entail:
- Audits of the Development, CM, Test, and Deployment processes to ensure steps are being followed
- Audits of the release to ensure proper content
- Working with the whole team to drive process improvements (including test improvements)
- Monitoring metrics of the group
- Interfacing with program leadership to present information on performance and quality.
- Monitoring status of vulnerabilities in the system

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a DMV check and credit check
• Clearance: NACI
• Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
• Candiate must be cross-functional, and must have excellant written and verbal communications skills
• 4 Years experience participating in quality assurance activities for systems, software, and hardware and with a B.S./B.A. in Engineering, Information Technology or Mathematics

Desired Skills: 
• Experience with the following tools would be desired: GIT, Gerrit, Jenkins, Linux (Red Hat or another rpm based distro), Remedy, Redmine, Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel mostly), SonarQube, Fortify, and TestRail.
• Familiarity with security vulnerabilities would be a plus.
