Job Description:
The Configuration Management Engineer (CME) is responsible for tailoring and implementation of the institutional Configuration Management (CM)
process requirements on assigned JPL Projects. As a member of the Small Projects and Operations Information Management and Configuration
Management Group, the CME will:
-Provide Hardware Configuration and Information Management type support for JPL Project System Engineers, utilizing software products and
information management tools and best business practices.
-Implement the applicable level of configuration management for project elements
-Be responsible for the planning and implementation of complex tasks pertaining to configuration documentation including: identifying, collecting,
cataloging, releasing, reporting, controlling, manages changes, administering waivers
-Manage information throughout the product's lifecycle, including archiving and closeout; advise project personnel.
-Investigate alternate methods/procedures for information and configuration management. Recommend improvements to project personnel and
management.
-Apply knowledge of standards and practices to integrate partner information and develop processes and procedures.
-Serve as the technical point of contact to implement and manage the appropriate level of access control to protect export controlled, proprietary, and
sensitive project information.
-Plan, document, manage and execute the Change Control process. Establish change control through the application of distributed change
processing authority by providing tiered Change Control Board (CCB) administration and support including Change Request (CR) processing, action
item capture/tracking/closure, coordination of impact assessments, change incorporation verification and closure.
-Access and work within a Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) database to verify changes in the system.
-Prepare CM activity/status reports and metrics for project meetings and reviews
-Audit configuration items to verify conformance to specifications, drawings and interface control documents, and other contractual requirements
-Ensure projects comply with Institutional Information and Configuration Management policies, processes, and procedures (e.g., JPL Institutional
Documentation for information, records, and configuration management, AS 9100, NPR 7120.5, International Traffic in Arms Regulations [ITAR],
Export Administration Regulations [EAR]).

The applicant should have:
-An understanding of engineering data and configuration management processes, procedures, and discipline best practices.
-Experience to work effectively in highly dynamic environments.
-Experience to coordinate and collaborate efficiently in a diverse team environment.
-Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills.
-Experience with management of project data using an enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system (e.g. Siemens Teamcenter, SAP PLM,
or PTC Windchill).
-Experience creating, updating and maintaining MS Office documentation

Desired Skills :
-Experience with management of requirements using a DOORS database
-Experience managing and tracking action and tasks in JIRA
-Experience effectively managing and utilizing libraries/sites in an enterprise content management system.
