Job Description:
Seeking a strong Windows System Administrator who will also be the IT functional supervisor for the Joint Polar Satellite System (JPSS) Common Ground System (CGS) program. JPSS supports the operation, upgrades and maintenance of this a state-of-the-art ground station for the latest generation of low earth orbiting environmental satellites. This system provides global coverage, monitor environmental conditions, collect, disseminate and process data about the Earth's weather, atmosphere, oceans, land and near-space environment.

As a System Administrator the individual is responsible for administration, troubleshooting, maintaining and implementing infrastructure solutions for the ground system - including all parts of the programs workstation, server, peripheral and network systems. This will include a variety of administration tasks such as implementation, coding, testing, security hardening and systems integration. They will establish functional and technical specifications, develop documentation and solve hardware/software interface problems.

As the IT functional supervisor, the individual will be responsible for development of staff, hiring, mentoring, ensuring team members have the resources/training needed, and coordination with program leadership and IT management.

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• BS Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
• 8+ years of related technical experience with increasing responsibilities
• 4+ years of experience directly related to Windows System Administration
• 2+ years of experience administering VMWare products including vCenter, vSphere and vSAN.
• Experience with Scripting (i.e. PowerShell, Python, Ruby, bash,etc…)
• 2+ years of team leadership
• Demonstrated ability to work in a process driven environment
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with all levels of an organization, including customers, engineering organizations, IPT members, supporting functional organizations.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills and negotiation skills.
• Strong analytic and research skills - must be detail oriented
• Must be able to lift up to 35 pounds in support of hardware installations.
• Occasional travel in the Continental United States including Aurora, CO and JPSS sites in Suitland, Maryland and Fairmont, WV.

Desired Skills:
• Experience with Red Hat Linux
• Experience with automation tools such as IBM BigFix/TEM, Chef , Puppet, Ansible, SaltStack)
• Understanding of Storage Area Network concepts (SAN)
• Experience administering VMWare Horizon VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) including experience with Horizon Apps, App Volumes and User Environment Manager.
• Experience with security operations: system protection, system scanning and auditing, recurring security configuration checks and management, risk assessments, contingency/incident response, and security sustainment of a large ground system.
• Experience with AWS
