Job Description:
We invite you to join JPL's Avionics Integration, Test & Operations Group to serve as a Systems Engineer 1 for the Psyche project. Reporting administratively to the Technical Group Supervisor and programmatically to the Avionics Integration & Test Lead for the project, your tasks will include the following:
• Test and integrate spacecraft hardware and software in the Avionics and Systems Testbeds
• Work in a lab facility with hardware, ground support equipment and test equipment
• Meet regularly with the team, assessing status, reviewing problems, planning short-term and long-term activities
• Develop critical verification and validation (V&V) plans and procedures
• Verify complex and multifunctional systems requirements
• Analyze test results, generate test reports, and present test analysis at review meetings
• Assess complex issues and recommend resolution to the team and management; implement resolutions
• Partner with other engineers and project personnel to create change requests
• Present work in management and project reviews as appropriate
• Assure that the quality, accuracy, and integrity of technical documentation, reports, and deliverables comply with JPL standards, project plans, and policies

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related technical discipline with a minimum of 1 year of related experience; Master’s degree with a minimum of 0 years of relevant experience
• Excellent initiative and follow-through to effectively identify, plan, and execute assignments with little guidance
• Proficiency in exercising discretion and independent judgment in evaluating potential approaches and solutions to critical problems and determining appropriate resolutions
• Proficiency in approving deviations from established policies and procedures
• Excellent communication (oral, written, presentation), interpersonal, and organizational skills

Desired Skills:
• Experience working in an electronics lab/cleanroom
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems using various types of test equipment
• Data analysis and anomaly investigation
• Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, etc.)
• Flexibility to support rotating shift assignments (first shift/second shift) as well as occasional weekend shifts
• Proficiency in advising management, inside and outside own organization, on testbed architecture, technical results, or risks
