Job Description:
The Information and Configuration Management Engineer (ICME) is responsible for tailoring and implementation of the institutional Configuration Management (CM) process requirements on assigned JPL Projects. As a member of the Project Information and Configuration Management Group, the ICME will:

• Provide Hardware Configuration and Information Management type support for JPL Project System Engineers, utilizing software products and information management tools and best business practices.
• Plan, document, manage and execute the Change Control process. Establish change control through the application of distributed change processing authority by providing tiered Change Control Board (CCB) administration and support including Change Request (CR) processing, action item capture/tracking/closure, coordination of impact assessments, change incorporation verification and closure.
• Access and work within a Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements System (DOORS) database to verify changes in the system.
• Audit configuration items to verify conformance to specifications, drawings and interface control documents, and other contractual requirements
• Prepare CM activity/status reports and metrics for project meetings and reviews.
• Recommend best practices and improved processes for the creation of information.
• Optimize the findability and usability of information, including improvements to the end-user experience in JPL’s enterprise search solution, JSearch(manually boosting search results and advising information creators on how they can improve documentation  practices for better findability).
• Improve the longevity, robustness, and reusability of documents and other information produced as a result of daily operations.
• Improve processes to track changes and remove redundancies for more resilient information.
• Work with OCIO teams to assess systems to determine their optimal integration with the broader enterprise information ecosystem (i.e., what is the difference between SharePoint and Confluence and which should teams use?).
• Liaise between OCIO (and specifically the JSearch team), Digital Transformation, Section 319, and end-users.
• Apply Library and Information Science principles in innovative ways to provide creative, sustainable solutions to complex challenges.

• An understanding of engineering data and configuration management processes, procedures, and discipline best practices.
• Experience to work effectively in highly dynamic environments.
• Experience to coordinate and collaborate efficiently in a diverse team environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and computer skills.
• Experience with management of project data using an enterprise Product Data Management (PDM) system (e.g. Siemens Teamcenter, SAP PLM, or PTC Windchill).
• Experience creating, updating and maintaining MS Office documentation

Desired Skills:
• Experience with management of requirements using a DOORS database
• Experience managing and tracking action and tasks in JIRA
• Experience effectively managing and utilizing libraries/sites in an enterprise content management system.
• Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and expectations
• Customer service experience a plus
