Job Description:
Will provide hardware design and drawing generation in support of the Antenna Mechanical and Structural Engineering Group and report to the 333H technical group supervisor. 

Required Skills:
• Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• Minimum of Associate’s degree or equivalent technical degree and 10 years of direct experience in the design and fabrication field.
• Driving (a government issued vehicle) is required for this position.  Must have a valid California driver’s license, a clean driving record and successfully pass a DMV check.
• Demonstrated working knowledge in mechanical and electro-mechanical design, 3D CAD modeling (SolidWorks), fabrication methods and assembly processes. 
• Ability to develop models/drawings from sketches and or discussions with engineers. Experience working with fabrication shops and able to take a task from model/drawing through fabrication and perform hands-on mechanical assembly.
• Field implementations at remote sites such as Goldstone Deep Space tracking complex in California desert a plus.
• Design knowledge should include component packaging, sheet metal, and steel fabrication including knowledge of welding specifications, castings and designating component fastening hardware.
• Knowledge of fabrication methods and techniques, ability to assist engineers in conceptualizing and developing design solutions and a demonstrated knowledge of basic dimensioning and tolerancing.
• Possess a working knowledge of DSN drawing release packages for the Institution’s EPDM drawing release system if required.
• Ability to support the writing of technical procedures for installation and test.
• Must possess strong communication skills and be able to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to potential deadlines and or requirement changes when required and work well within a diverse and dynamic organization.
• Basic Safety Training (Specify any Job-Specific Safety Requirements (safety equipment, certifications, etc.)) - Safety Awareness Orientation Video
(required), JPL supplied training to include: Fall Protection, Confined Space, Lockout Tag-Out, Antenna Access
Training for Goldstone.

Desired Skills:
• Design, fabrication and assembly experience with mechanical motion systems (linear guides, bearings, drive gears, couplers).
• Working knowledge of SolidWorks and or other 3D parametric CAD tools, AutoCAD and ASME Y14.5 dimensioning and tolerancing practices.
• Experience with DSN processes (drawing release, modkit preparation for equipment transfer-MIDAS, etc.)
• Vehicle Operation Specify whether this position will be required to operate any vehicle (auto, van, forklift, other lifting devices, etc) in the performance of job duties. if so, specify type(s) : Ability to operate Group GSA truck at times.
