Job Description:
Looking for a Linux System Administrator to work with a team of System Administrators supporting customers located at the customer site at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Job duties include all aspects of system administration including installation, configuration, implementation, and maintenance of Linux servers, both hardware and virtual.

The System Administrator will be responsible for disk storage devices, SAN and NAS devices, and network equipment.  Responsibilities also include building, configuring, and troubleshooting open source and commercial applications, backups and restoration, user support, and documentation.

Required Skills:

• Position is Onsite in Pasadena, Not Remote.
• Customer and contract specific training will be required and provided.
• Must be onsite from Day 1
• This position will require that the selected candidate will train in the Pasadena office for several weeks, after that initial training period, temporary or part time telecommuting may be an option.
• B.S./B.A. with at least 4 years of experience that demonstrate technical, communication and development skills. May substitute experience for education. (i.e., Associate’s degree plus 8 years of directly related experience, no degree plus 12 years of directly related experience.)
• Minimum of 4 years of System Administrator experience using Linux.
• In depth knowledge of Windows operating systems also good knowledge of Linux Redhat/CentOS, including system design, configuration, maintenance, upgrade and administration.
• Strong knowledge of design, implementation, and support of networked systems and technologies such routers, switches, Active Directory, NFS, DNS, and LDAP.
• Strong in configuration management practices and related tools such as Puppet, Git, Packer, and Docker, Kubernetes.
• Experience in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of both public licensed and Commercial-off-the-Shelf software tools.
• Strong knowledge of virtualization (Openstack, VMWare, etc.) and on web scale services in Amazon AWS.
• Experience (with automating processes and deployments using tools such as scripting (bash, python, perl, etc.).
• Scripting experience such as powershell, shell and php.
• Strong understanding and some working knowledge of Amazon Cloud.
• Experience with a trouble ticketing system.
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to work directly with customer.

Desired Skills:
• Experience with high performance clusters in a scientific environment.
• Excellent user interface / interpersonal / written and verbal communication skills.
• The ability to operate in a team environment consisting of both internal and external members, co-workers and customers.
• The ability to document and electronically store daily task information, architecture, processes, and user instructions.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Cacti and Ganglia.
• The ability to work independently.
• Strong knowledge of Storage Technology, both local and hosted, including design, implementation, maintenance, upgrade / transition planning and execution.
• Knowledge of Database Administration including installation, upgrade and maintenance (Oracle, Postgres, Hadoop, etc.).
• Experience using the AWS API including knowledge of the AWS CLI.
