We are currently seeking a Scientific Communications Editor to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in MD.

Job Description:
The contractor shall:
• Researching and drafting science news articles
• Researching and drafting content for video scripts, video production and editing
• Researching and drafting content for the website such as infographs, biographies, program summar-ies
• Researching and drafting social media content, content for apps, and educational tools for students and the public
• Researching and drafting content for public outreach and special events
• Developing a short and long-range social media plan to highlight NIBIB activities and advances
• Preparing briefing materials for senior leadership about science advances and agency activities.

Required Skills:
The contractor must have:
• In-depth knowledge and experience writing about biomedical research and public health topics
• Experience writing for different audiences, including scientists, health professionals, various educa-tional levels, agency leadership, and the public, and ability to adapt your writing style and voice to different requirements
• Demonstrated ability to copyedit for scientific accuracy, Associated Press style, plain language and adherence to brand standards
• Demonstrated experience developing an overarching social media plan and creating multimedia content/products for effective implementation.
• Ability to work collaboratively with team members using online tools like Teams and willingness to learn new tools.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suite)
• Organized and detailed-oriented; ability to manage multiple ongoing projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
• Excellent interpersonal communications skills
• Bachelor’s degree in bioengineering, biology, chemistry, physics, or related field, plus at least five years of experience writing for a scientific or technical organization, news publication, marketing, or public relations firm; Master’s or PhD. degree and comparable experience preferred.
• Strong communications skills, both oral and written.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Willingness to be an active team member.
