Roles and responsibilities

Hard Requirements: 
US Citizenship Required - No Green Cards or Visa's for this position. 
BS Degree is required, 8 additional years of IT related experience in lieu of degree (Min 12 years total)
Must have a minimum of 4 years of IT related experience
Must have a minimum on 2 years of Networking experience

Desired: 
Recent Certifications - CCNA, CCNP, Network+, etc. 
Experience with Cisco and Juniper products

Job Responsibilities: 
• Analyze, plan, test, implement, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and communications network systems
• Troubleshoot, detect, isolate, notify, and correct faults encountered in the network infrastructure
• Manage the configuration aspects of network devices such as configuration file management, inventory management, and software management
• Perform network planning, modeling, capacity planning, and lab testing for communication systems and applications
• Monitor and measure various aspects of performance so that overall performance can be maintained at an acceptable level
• Collect, monitor, and analyze usage information of network resources to support proactive management and future planning
• A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected
• Work after hours and at other NOAA facilities maybe required periodically

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• BS Degree Required
• 4-6 years of experience working with LAN/WAN infrastructure and administration
• Operational support and on-call experience
• Experience with all Cisco-specific platforms to include Nexus, Catalyst, and ASA in addition to the respective operating systems such as NX-OS, IOS, and IOS-XE
• Experience with all Juniper-specific platforms to include the EX-series, MX-series, and SRX-series in addition to the JUNOS operating system
• Hands-on, working knowledge of various routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, and BGP)
• Hands-on, working knowledge of IPv4/IPv6
• Hands-On experience with aforementioned hardware and software platforms
• Government experience preferred
