Seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with expertise in advanced instrument electrical engineering, for full-time work at our HQ in Pasadena, CA. The selected candidate will be a member of the Instrument Systems Implementation & Concepts Section in the Instrument Technology for Special Applications Group (382H) and will report to the Group Supervisor. Note: you must be a U.S. Citizen with an active TS-SCI clearance to be considered for this position.
The selected Electrical Engineer will be responsible for developing and advancing the electrical engineering subsystem(s) required for science grade instruments. Additional responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Will participate in a coordinated effort to understand and improve electronic subsystems that support the instrument systems.
Will work as part of a team with a full range of integrated custom ground support, calibration and alignment equipment.
Design and develop circuits used in electronic devices. Responsible for integrated circuit or printed wire board design, device evaluation and characterization, circuit analysis, test and support equipment design, prototype construction and checkout.
Designs electronics subsystems and system architecture and develops requirements and specification.
Develops advanced technology for use in electronics components and systems.
Prepares test methods and specifications; analyzes equipment to establish operating data and conducts experimental tests; provides final equipment approval, and prepares documentation and user information.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electronic components, equipment, technology, systems and networks.
May include specifying, designing and testing for compatibility with applicable electromagnetic environments.
Define and document electrical interfaces between spacecraft subsystems.
Work with subsystem leadership teams to gain consensus on developed electrical interface solution which meets engineering and cost requirements
Execute electrical interface design enhancements as required to support current and new product changes.
Performs analytical analysis on complex or critical electrical interfaces Applies wide ranging experience and advanced knowledge in field to derive and document assembly level engineering requirements, specifications and interface definitions
Partners with other engineers, project personnel and management to design and develop highly complex and critical electronics system architectures
Leads the development of highly complex and critical digital and/or analog circuit boards and assemblies
Responsible for highly complex and critical FPGA and/or analog design and implementation.
Leads design teams in development of highly complex and critical FPGA and/or analog circuits.
Wide-ranging experience and advanced knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Electrical and Electronic Ground Support Equipment and subsystem electrical interface design and implementation.
Broad knowledge in fundamental theoretical concepts and practices of electronic engineering.
Candidate will have general knowledge of electronic and computer equipment, and software.
Extensive understanding and wide application of advanced principles, theories, concepts and techniques in electrical engineering resulting in contributions to the development of new theories and methods.
Complete knowledge of industry and/or academic practices and standards across a range of applications related to electrical engineering and Electrical and Electronic Ground Support Equipment and and electrical interface design.
Skills spanning design, analysis, characterization, simulation, test and/or verification of electronic circuits and assemblies.
NOTE: Must be a U.S. Citizen with an active Top Secret (TS) clearance based upon Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) within 5 year scope and approved for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) accesses.
Extensive knowledge of Laboratory policies and procedures, NASA policies and procedures, and government regulations across a range of applications.
Extensive experience in the aerospace industry
Past experience with development of advanced science instruments for flight applications
