Job description:
Will design new and modify existing offices and laboratories to accommodate the changing needs of the various spacecraft programs. Will involve existing mechanical and plumbing systems. Will design, review and prepare documentation for a wide variety of moderately complex facility modifications and construction projects using in house and contract personnel. Apply industry best practice work methods, standards and principles to emerging new situations. Will interface with JPL clients, outside engineering consultants, partner JPL organizations, facilities construction and
maintenance personnel, and facilities design team members. Participate on or lead project teams; may provide work direction or guidance to a group of employees. Strong communication, interpersonal, and project organizational skills will be required on a daily basis. Will work closely with architects and electrical engineers to support the JPL Move and Modify Facilities process to provide full service e planning/design/construction coordination with Facilities Maintenance, Facilities Construction Administration, Facilities Standards & Compliance as well as partner organizations - Safety,
Acquisitions, Security, Telecommunications and Information Technology.


Required Skills:
BA degree in Mechanical Engineering with 7 years related work experience in facilities design/construction projects of moderate complexity, demonstrating originality, ingenuity and knowledge of building codes and industry best practices. Minimum 4 years experience performing facilities engineering for multi-discipline facility projects using in house and contract design and construction personnel. Experience in performing facilities engineering, working under general direction for a variety of diverse full service projects (i.e. small/large, simple/complex, short/long duration). Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal, mediating and project management skills. Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to principles of LEED and Building Commissioning. Competence with AudoCAD, MS Word, MS Excel. Working knowledge of Federal, State and local codes.

Desired Skills:
MA/MS degree in Mechanical Engineering with 4 years related experience. Professional license or registration. Excellent communication, interpersonal and project management skills. Knowledge and experience with Controls equipment and Controls interfaces. Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Federal, State and local codes.
