We are currently seeking a Scientist to work onsite with the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, MD.

•Operate and maintain oversight of high pressure liquid chromatograph systems (single and multi-dimensional).
•Coordinate protein isolation from cerebrospinal fluid, dissected tissue or cell culture; principle emphasis for fractionation of complex mixtures of proteins is immunoaffinity and other chromatographic techniques, including ion exchange, hydrophilic interaction and reversed phase, utilizing a multicolumn separation device and ancillary liquid chromato-graphs.
•Develop new methods for protein fractionation using chromatographic methods, phase partition, etc.
•Utilize isoelectric focusing and PAGE for evaluation and documentation when necessary.
•Maintain stocks of protein standards and digests used to LC and/or mass spectrometry method development.
•Prepare stock buffers, solutions and mobile phases.
•Schedule, track and report analyses of collaborative samples.
•Record raw data according to good practice; file data; maintain accessible notebooks.
•Contribute to laboratory findings in regularly scheduled group meetings and in research publications.
•Participate in planning of new projects; provide expert advice and consultation on separation and analysis techniques.
•Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a related discipline; two (2) years of specialized experience plus a Bachelor’s degree is equivalent to a Master’s degree.
•Extensive practical experience in the separation of proteins and peptides (liquid chromatography).
•Knowledge of mass spectrometry of peptides.
•Minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
•Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
•Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
