Job Description:
Software developer for a real-time embedded application. Responsibilities include the gathering of software requirements, presenting a software design, coding, unit testing and integration. As a team member you will be expected to participate in design and code peer reviews. Other areas of responsibility will be to perform timing, memory and throughput collection and analysis. The software engineer would typically work under the guidance of a Cognizant Engineer to develop a solid understanding of the required capabilities of the software system. The engineer would then be responsible for determining the software approach for the development and ultimately be responsible for the final coded capability.

As a Flight Software Engineer for the Small Scale Flight Software group (348C), you will be working for JPL's Flight Software and Avionics Systems Section, which provides leadership and unique world-class expertise in Avionics Systems Engineering, Spacecraft Flight Software development, Avionics Integration, Test, and Operations and Advanced Processor and Software Research.

Required Skills:
• The candidate must be a citizen of the United States of America
• Candidate must have a minimum of a Top Secret/SCI clearance
• A United States Government administered polygraph examination will be given to the selected candidate; he/she must pass it to maintain employment in this position
• Offer contingent on ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen
• This position typically requires a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, or related discipline with a minimum of 3 years of related experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
• Extensive experience in C/C++ and Python with software/hardware interactions
• Experience in testing and software/hardware integration and debugging
• Experience working with build tools in the Linux environment
